Borderlands 2: Disable Black Outline, Framerate Smoothing, Cel Shading

Borderlands 2That's right people. More Borderlands 2 hacks, tweaks, and mods.

These focus on the video / graphical side of the game.

Two of them are for changing the graphical style, whereas one may in fact increase the performance of Borderlands 2.

So use these as you wish! They're easy edits.

If you have any questions then please comment below. Now -- to begin the guide!

All of these use the all-important, WillowEngine.ini that can be opened and edited with Notepad.

It is located: here:

How to Disable Black Outline in Borderlands 2

So the black outline shader may be annoying you.

It really shouldn't be, but if that is the case, then search for DefaultPostProcessName=WillowEngineMaterials.WillowScenePostProcess and change that line to...
DefaultPostProcessName=EngineMaterials.ScenePostProcess

Easy right? All the edits here are!

Borderlands 2 How to Disable Framerate Smoothing

If you want to disable framerate smoothing for any reason, then you're in luck. It is easy to do.

Search for "bSmoothFrameRate=" in the INI file and then you will want to change it to the following:
bSmoothFrameRate=FALSE

Done. Super easy to do AND to undo.

Borderlands 2 Disable Cel Shading

The game Borderlands 2 uses cel shading to make the art look cool.

Some people like this effect, whereas some do not. Locate the same line as before: DefaultPostProcessName=WillowEngineMaterials.WillowScenePostProcess

Change it to...

DefaultPostProcessName=WillowEngineMaterials.RyanScenePostProcess

No more cel shading!

Some of these tweaks may help increase your Borderlands 2 performance so if you are having low frames per second (FPS) or have stuttering with the game, then it's worth a try.
