FIX Borderlands 2 - Missing File Errors (xapofx1_5.dll, d3dx9_43.dll, XAudio2_7.dll, X3DAudio1_7.dll)
When playing Borderlands 2 on the PC, you may encounter errors that are not present on the console versions.
Four errors that are particularly infamous for the PC version of Borderlands 2, are for the following files
xapofx1_5.dll
d3dx9_43.dll
XAudio2_7.dll
X3DAudio1_7.dll
1) Navigate to one of these two folders depending on if you have the Steam version of the game or the DVD / CD copy:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Redist\DXRedistCutdown
C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Redist\DXRedistCutdown
2) Launch DXSETUP and follow the install
Still not working? Then continue with the steps below. Make sure to have an application like WinRAR or 7ZIP (free) that can handle extracting CAB files.
Borderlands 2 xapofx1_5.dll Error
Are you missing this file? Not to worry, you actually have it!
The CAB file is located DXRedistCutdown\Jun2010_XAudio_x86.cab
Extract it, then put the file in the same folder as the game's EXE.
Borderlands 2 d3dx9_43.dll Error
Guess what? You have this file too!
It is located in the following CAB: DXRedistCutdown\Jun2010_d3dx9_43_x86.cab
Extract it and again place it in the same folder as the EXE and game launcher.
XAudio2_7.dll
Easy solutions are great!
Extract the CAB: DXRedistCutdown\Jun2010_XAudio_x86.cab
Drag it in the same folder as the game's EXE. Done!
X3DAudio1_7.dll
Lastly, if you are experiencing this music / audio DLL file error, then no worries.
It is located in the CAB: DXRedistCutdown\Feb2010_X3DAudio_x86.cab
Extract it, grab the DLL, and place it in the folder with the game's EXE.
Note that the SYSTEM32 directory works as well, but is unnecessary if it runs in the same folder as your EXE. If you DO put it in the system32 folder though, you can reuse that DLL with other games if they ever require it.

Hi James,
"It wont start up now" -- That makes it sound like it started up previously for you. Did you update your game and are no longer able to play now?
